This project was briefed and named as “The Create Anarchy Project”. It was a commissioned brief that required me to create three photographic responses to a chosen world issue, as to which I chose car dependency. I chose a subtopic to this project, where my images flip to show a world without cars.

CAR DEPENDENCY

 ——— A World Without Cars ———

The first image represents car dependency, showing how much space is taken up by the personal automobile. The second image flips to a world without cars, where it shows the wasted space that automobiles actually take up, to be sat not in use.

The first image represents car dependency by the traffic and congestion caused by the dependent use of automobiles. The second image flips to a world without cars, with empty lanes on the road, as well as a road marking pointing towards a bike lane, which represents the route we should be taking, away from car dependency.

The first image represents car dependency by the stress and road rage of driving, which I think is shown in the overlapping indicators and red tail lights. The second image flips to a world without cars, with a peaceful bike highway with nature around it. The 40mph sign represents how cycling is now faster than driving, due to the traffic caused by being car dependent, making car travel slow.
